The Trust will have a Stakeholder Forum composed of members, which will be able to appoint some of the Trust’s trustees. As the Trust develops the Trust will welcome other schools joining the Trust.
The rationale for acquiring the Trust, the contribution it will make, and the direction it will provide to the schools can be summarised as:
Membership of the Trust will make a difference to students, staff, the institutions working together and to the local community. It is expected that Trust membership will increase in future years and that the benefits will become available to a larger number of participants.
- By working together, members will be able to raise achievement further through sharing of best practice, close collaboration on curriculum development and joint professional development opportunities.
- Members will share the benefits of shared services, joint procurement, best value and economies of scale. This will enable members to be better placed to sustain and improve our provision in the future.
- Partners and associate members will bring additional expertise, knowledge and skills to the Trust that will strengthen our provision and enhance our children’s education, well-being and personal development.
- As an Associate Member, Moor End Academy will continue to work in collaboration with Spen Valley Sports College and provide expertise on whole school improvement matters such as teaching and learning, curriculum development and workforce development.
- The principles and values of the Co-operative Movement will underpin our work with children, families and stakeholders. Membership of the Co-operative Trust will provide access to a much wider family of schools, both nationally and internationally, and ensure that stakeholders have the opportunity to remain fully involved in its long-term strategic direction.
- Greater use of the school estate and community participation will support our efforts to improve the well-being and social cohesion of our locality.
- The Trust will endorse and advocate our belief that a fully inclusive education provision from birth to adulthood is an entitlement for all.
The Trust will contribute to the advancement of education and raise standards through the creation of a platform for on-going improvement. The resources and expertise brought to the Trust by the partners will strengthen strategic leadership, increase support and challenge and consolidate effective monitoring, thereby bringing about rapid improvement in outcomes for students.
